Kenmore Quietguard1 dishwasher
Model number 587.15163401. The washer came with the house we bought 5.5 years ago. The washer was installed a year or two before that. I believe that the unit was purchased at Sears.We have been having trouble with grit being left on the dishes, especially on the top rack, for quite some time now. Upon more detailed examination, the wash arm under the top rack is not getting enough water pressure to force it to spin. Judging from the fact that the bottom wash arm is spinning and spraying well, it seems that the motor/pump is in good working order. We have looked for any obvious clogs in the parts of the assembly that are easily accessible (upper/lower wash arms, filters, pump inlet/outlet). Nothing notable. It must be a shot valve or a blockage in a spot we can't access without removing the unit from its spot under the counter.
