Fridge takes very long to cool

Hello. I just bought this unit used yesterday. The freezer works perfectly but I have to divert the cold air into the fridge by turning the knob in the freezer to cold instead of colder. So that made the fridge section cool quicker but the freezer doesn't get as cold as id like. Is there aore efficient way to cool the fridge? There isn't a fan that blows cold air into the fridge. Fridge is from 1086, I guess they didn't think of that yet.
