Kenmore 253 56976300 water dispenser

I just received this refrigerator from a friend, it was left behind when he purchased the house. It appears to be in good working order, except that the water dispenser will not completely shut off. There is a loud groaning sound, and then it keeps dripping. I replaced the dual inlet solenoid valve due to a crack in the old one, now this problem has presented itself. Any ideas?
