I've owned this dishwasher since new, bought in 1997 as a portable and built into cabinetry in 1998 when purchased house. It has been a phenomenal machine, will "clean the pattern off the china" so to speak. It's now 18 years old and little things are starting to show, such as the door spring clips, door gasket, door hinges. I replaced the door spring clips, easy fix. I may need a new door gasket because I'm noticing a small drip on the right side in the floor when running. The door hinges have bent some over the years...I actually took them out a couple years ago and banged them back into shape because the door would go all the way to the floor, and Whirlpool is EXTREMELY proud of those little pieces of metal. I replaced the timer because it developed a dead spot and the detergent dispenser sometimes wouldn't open...got a used one on eBay, fixed it. It still cleans very VERY well. I may remove it from service and install my backup Kitchenaid KUDI 23 I found on craigslist brand new! I will then keep this one for backup and fix the little issues one at a time. At least it WILL wash dishes the first time EVERY time, unlike the dish sprinklers out now!
